Ba Guan is the process you see in the video. In China they believe it is a healing method, and it has been used for thousands of years. It was pretty awesome to go through, it only hurt a little bit. If you want to see the marks it left me just check my IG/Twitter: trelgiles or my Facebook: Tre’ Giles
Thanks for watching!
China has so many surprises around every corner. If you are somewhat adventurous you can find amazing opportunities in China. These adventures turn into amazing stories it seems every person I come in contact with has to share. For an example the American teachers, my friend Kyle, and I went out to buy fireworks to celebrate 4th of July together. We started out by renting mopeds, which only cost 50 cents to rent for an hour. We headed down the main street until we left the “nice” part of town. Let me tell you driving in China is an adventure in itself. If you ever get the chance to do it, please twice because simply put it is scary! Once we crossed this intersection it felt as if we were in a different world. You could see that poverty decided to claim this part of the land.
After some maneuvering through these streets and alleys, we found ourselves at the fireworks store. There weren’t a lot of fireworks just laying around in the shop, but thankfully an American teacher with us is pretty good at speaking Chinese. A minute after the conversation started we were following this man across the street to a locked door, and behind this door there were enough fireworks to fill any pyros dream. We ended up buying two boxes of huge mortars, it was a special 4th of July to say the least.
I wanted to end this post with some cool random facts:
- Babies don’t wear diapers in China, they are free to poop and pee all over the streets, trains, stores, etc…
- In Beijing (the capital of China) the government gives out two numbers every day. If your license plate ends in one of those numbers you are not permitted to drive that day. This is slow down the horrible pollution.
- Most of the Chinese people think all Americans can sing and dance very well, so be prepared to put on a show if you find yourself in China!!
If you would have looked at me three years ago while I was still in high school, and told me about the roller coaster of a life I would be living I would think you are simply crazy. The old life I once knew is gone for the most part. My heart used to be filled with the desire for women, sports, parties, and many other purely earthly desires. Now those things have been replaced with a love for our savior, the desire to help others, an new found passion for knowledge and companionship. The word “humble” had no meaning to the old Tre’, but the man I’m growing into now embodies being the term (most of the time, I still slip up once in a while of course).
For those of you who don’t know much about me, I literally burn with a passion to serve others. I was recently in Guatemala working at a orphanage and an all girls school, and Tuscaloosa, AL helping with Habitat for Humanity for those who lost their homes in the horrible tornado that hit a few years ago. My current adventure has landed me on the other side of the world in CHINA.
My first few days were spent in Beijing, the capitol of the beautiful country. I have been blessed with the opportunity to visit places like the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Jade factories, and even the Summer Palace. I have been traveling with two other Americans, four South Koreans, and our guide a Chinese student. We have all grown so close and learn so much from each other.
I don’t want this post to be a whole book long, so I will just talk about the about the Great Wall and call it good until the next one. My favorite thing in China so far is the Great Wall!!! The Wall is amazing, stretching for thousands of miles. Hiking up the beast of a creation is not a joke. The part I hiked is in mountainous territory and is very steep. (I will upload pictures once my technology allows it). Looking down from the top of a mountain while standing on the Wall is so breath taking. You gaze don over a beautiful country sometimes poisoned with a nasty fog, and other days green and pure as God intended. I don’t have words to describe the wondrous beauty of the Great Wall, I wish I could just bring everyone hear to see it personally.
I have so much more I want to share with everyone, but I want to do it with one post at a time. So until next, God Bless and I love you all!
This is what I will be using to shine light on what God is doing in my life. I just really hope I can spread the love Jesus has for us all to every corner of the earth. Thus, the “Spreading Love” part in the title of this site. The second thing I want to do is open peoples eyes to the wonders, grace, and love that God has put in place in our world. That may be through taking pictures of beautiful places I travel to, putting up Bible quotes, or just what ever comes to mind. I hope to open the eyes of everyone so they too can see just how wonderful our God is. Every single one of my post won’t be purely religious, I also will talk about culture, diversity, amazing people, things I have learned, and just life in general. I hope you enjoy the ride that is the life of Tre’ Giles, authored and guided by the savior JESUS CHRIST.
“The Poem of Love” 1 Corinthians 13:1-13.
